Absolutely Radiant : There are 2 radioactive burial sites, "Site A" and "Plot M" at Palos Forest Preserve Red Gate Woods. The worlds first nuclear reactor is buried at "Site A"; CP-1, 2, 3 (Chicago Pile 1, 2, 3). The first nuclear reactor was operating in 1943 and was part of the Manhattan Project. Burial site "Plot M" is where low level radioactive wastes, animal carcasses from testing, etc. are buried.
